2026 ORNAC Board of Directors Nominations

Are you ready to make a meaningful impact on perioperative nursing in Canada?
The Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC) is now accepting applications for the 2026–2028 Board of Directors.

Serving as an ORNAC Director is a rewarding leadership opportunity that allows you to influence the strategic direction of the organization, contribute to national initiatives, and actively engage with members across the country. Our Board plays a vital role in advancing perioperative nursing practice, education, and advocacy.

National Scope of the ORNAC Board

ORNAC is a national organization, and Board Directors are expected to govern in the best interests of the organization as a whole.

Directors do not represent provincial, regional, or local interests while serving on the ORNAC Board. Board discussions and decisions must remain focused on national priorities, strategy, and directives that advance perioperative nursing across Canada.

Bringing forward provincial or regional business, advocacy, or agendas to the Board is considered outside the scope of a Director’s role and may constitute a conflict of interest under ORNAC’s Conflict of Interest Policy.

About the Director Role

Directors are elected to serve a two-year term (2026–2028)

  • Meetings are held monthly on the same day of the month and the same time (7pm ET) unless otherwise agreed up by the board

Time Commitment & Engagement Expectations

Serving on the ORNAC Board of Directors is an active and engaged leadership role. Board members are expected to participate meaningfully in discussions, contribute to performance team work, and support the ongoing business of the organization.

The time commitment varies depending on the performance team(s) you serve on; however, at a minimum, Directors should anticipate:

  • Approximately 2 hours per month for scheduled Board meetings
  • Additional time for:
    • Reviewing materials and preparing for meetings
    • Participating in committee and performance team work
    • Engaging in Board discussions and decision-making between meetings
