Alex has been a Perioperative Nurse for 4 years. He is currently travel nursing in ORs across Canada. He enjoys the unique opportunities and challenges that come with travel nursing. Previously, he was the Spine Service Resource Nurse at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He graduated from the University of New Brunswick in 2019 with a Bachelor of Nursing first division, and in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science first division. He began serving as a Board Member of the Kennebecasis Valley Food Basket in 2021. He is passionate about promoting excellence in Perioperative Nursing and working with ORNAC to promote the Perioperative Nursing community.

Bio 

Cindy serves as the Faculty and Program Head of the BCIT Perioperative Specialty Nursing Program. Cindy holds a Master of Science in Nursing and began perioperative nursing in 2013. Cindy has been fortunate to engage in diverse professional roles, encompassing her experience as a BSN program educator and her involvement in leadership positions within acute care settings. These experiences have provided her with valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities facing the nursing profession today. She enjoys collaborative work and works with an incredible faculty team executing demanding projects. As a lifelong learner, Cindy is always looking for ways to expand her knowledge and expertise. She contributed to the development of the 2023 ORNAC Standards as one of the group leads on the ORNAC Standards Committee for the 16th edition. As a result of this positive experience, working with passionate and experienced peers on the ORNAC Standards Committee in helping to advance the field of perioperative nursing in a meaningful way, she was encouraged to continue this impactful work as a member of the ORNAC Board of Directors.

Angelina is the Clinical Resource Leader of the operating room, outpatient procedure unit & MDRD at Michael Garron Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. She currently holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University), and will have completed her Masters of Nursing by December of 2023 with a focus on teaching and leadership.
She is also part of the faculty at Centennial College where she has taught in the perioperative nursing course over the past 20 years. Angelina enjoys teaching and has found it very rewarding to support new and upcoming perioperative nurses. She has volunteered her time as a member of the board of directors for the Operating Room Nurses of Greater Toronto between the years of 2015- 2020 where she held the positions of program convener and then president. Angelina is a huge advocate for excellence and safety in perioperative nursing practice, and will continue to support the growth and development of professional practice within this nursing specialty during her tenure with ORNAC.

Bio 

Valancie completed her Bachelor of Education in 2000. After teaching for 7 years, she decided to switch directions and returned to university. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2009 which she quickly followed up with taking a perioperative course in 2010. In 2020 she accepted a position as a Clinical Nurse Educator. She loves learning and challenging her knowledge. When Valancie is not in the operating room, she loves being outdoors in her garden or paddling in a canoe.
