Perioperative Nurse Educators of Canada (PNEC) is a national nursing interest group focused on the education and professional development of perioperative nurses across Canada.The group formalized in 2009 after many years of informal support and resources for fellow perioperative nursing education colleagues across Canada. Today, PNEC is an affiliate of ORNAC and has membership of over 160 perioperative educators from across Canada. |

Our Vision
PNEC will be leaders of excellence in perioperative nursing education through the empowerment and support of perioperative nurses via research, knowledge transfer, the development of frontline leadership, and advocacy for education and best practices in the delivery of perioperative patient care.
Leadership involves modeling the way and leading up from the frontline nursing staff. Our vision involves empowering each perioperative nurse in applying their abilities to realize their own professional development and leadership potential. Advocacy for education and best practices is an ever present component of our group identity.

Our Objectives
- To promote recognition of the perioperative nurse educator role
- To promote the exchange of ideas and knowledge among perioperative nurse educators and perioperative nursing education
- Collaborate with ORNAC to advance and endorse the standards, guidelines and position statements for perioperative registered nursing practice
- To support the development of Canadian perioperative nursing research grounded in evidence based practice within an interdisciplinary team
