Achievement Awards
The Chris Downey Rising Star award recognizes a novice perioperative nurse who has less than 7 years of perioperative nursing experience.
The nomination period for the Awards is from Dec 1 to March 1.
Criteria
- Possesses a strong evidence-based perioperative nursing knowledge base and practical skill set
- Demonstrates special attributes that indicate they will be a future leader
- Works collaboratively with interdisciplinary care teams
- Participates in professional nursing organizations outside of the workplace
- Proactively seeks and/or creates opportunities to make a difference in patient care or to affect change
Nomination Selection Process
Nominations will be submitted by an ORNAC member. ORNAC's Awards committee will review and score the nominations based on their ability to meet the awards criteria. You may self-nominate for the Chris Downey Rising Star Award. Nomination must include two (2) letters of recommendation from a healthcare professional who may or may not be an ORNAC member.
Recognition & Reimbursement
The Award is presented at the National Conference when there is an appropriate nominee. The Award is funded by ORNAC.
