Who is N&LORNA?
N&LORNA is the Newfoundland and Labrador Operating Room Nurses Association. It is a special interest group of the Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (ARNNL) and is a member of the Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC).
The objectives of N&LORNA are:
- To provide opportunity for itís members to continue their professional growth, thus providing better care for patients undergoing surgical intervention.
- To promote communication between members throughout the province.
- To promote implementation of National Standards for Perioperative Nursing Practice.
- To promote Mission, Values and Vision Statements of ORNAC.
- To promote National Perioperative Nurses Day.
Mission Statement
N&LORNA is an organization dedicated to the promotion and advancement of excellence in Perioperative patient care. N&LORNA is also dedicated to the professional and personal enhancement of Operating Room Registered Nurses.
Value Statement
N&LORNA values knowledge. The knowledge is based on education and research, which are essential components that guide our practice. N&LORNA values collaboration. This organization collaborates with Registered Nurses within our specialty organizations, other specialty agencies and other disciplines that impact Perioperative nursing. N&LORNA values respect. This organization recognizes the worth, quality, diversity and importance of each other and the patient. N&LORNA values professionalism. This organization works together to promote and advance Perioperative nursing. N&LORNA values continuous quality. The organization strives to achieve excellence in Perioperative nursing practice and activities influencing our profession.

N&LORNA envisions the Association as a strong, unified Association striving to maintain, enhance, and advance Perioperative nursing practice.

- Updating members regarding Perioperative Post-Basic and RN First Assist Modules at the Centre for Nursing Studies and other educational facilities.
